The
Master's Academy of Fine Arts is an exposure level program
which servers as the first step in a multi-phased approach
to teaching the arts to homeschooled students ages 5-18.
Meeting for a total of 25 weeks each year, students gather
just one day a week for three hours.
Each
year the arts are taught from a specific time period. The
cycle begins with Ancient Civilizations,
then moves on to the Medieval/ Renaissance, Baroque, Classical,
Romantic, and Modern Periods over six years. Students do
not need to begin at the Ancient Civilization period to
experience a benefit from the program.
For
the first fifteen weeks of the program students cover fundamental
principles in the history, art, music and drama of a specific
time period. The last ten weeks are geared towards elective
options where students may choose to explore one or more
areas of interest in greater detail. The year is capped
off with an end-of-the-year event that showcases not only
the performance classes, but also the visual arts and historical
content that was learned over the year.
