THE MASTER'S ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS OF QUAKERTOWN |
MASTERVISION ENRICHMENT CLASSES 2008 - 2009 |
ART: COLLAGE
INSTRUCTOR: Mrs. Diana Mckee
REGISTRATION FEE: $30.00/student
AGE REQUIREMENT: All ages
SESSION TIME: 2:05 p.m.- 3:05 p.m.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: An exciting way for a student to express themselves in creating a “new” work of art, by assembling different forms from things such as magazines, news papers, postcards, ribbon, tape, foil…(most 2-D objects). The possibilities are endless! This class will cover composition, color theory, textures, design…but the student will be having so much fun “creating” they will not realize there is a lesson involved. Art should not be work. This is a great class for beginners to the advanced, timid to the bold. The artist will be free to go beyond the traditional boundaries creating beautiful landscapes, seascapes, still life’s etc.
Note: This is not a scrap-booking class!
ART: ELEMENTS OF COMMUNICATIONS DESIGN
INSTRUCTOR: Mrs. Tammy Jarratt
REGISTRATION FEE: $35.00/student
AGE REQUIREMENT: 12 years and older
SESSION TIME: 3:10 p.m. – 4:10 p.m.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Graphic design is the process of communicating visually, using text and images to present information or promote a message. Graphic design is a part of daily life. From humble things like gum wrappers, to huge things like billboards, to the T-shirt you’re wearing, graphic design informs, persuades, organizes, stimulates, locates, identifies, attracts attention and provides pleasure. This class will introduce and teach the process of graphic design through the understanding of typography, layout, and graphic imagery. Students will create brochures, magazine and book designs, illustrations, and corporate identity through logo designs.

REGISTRATION FEE: $95.00/student
AGE REQUIREMENT: 10 years and older
SESSION TIME: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Through this unconventional class your student will gain a better working knowledge of composition, texture, color theory, perspective and self expression utilizing fiber arts. We will be hammer printing, texture printing and dyeing our own fabrics as well as drawing, painting and adding embellishments to our projects. Some sewing will be involved in a few projects, but this is definitely not your Grandmother’s quilt class! Proposed projects include a dye transfer project using flowers, leaves and hammers; texture study created by texture printing fabric with found objects; black and white landscape design from photos they take themselves and black and white fabrics; dyeing fabric and creating an abstract design based on a color scheme; and a self portrait. No experience necessary.

| DAWN FLOOD - My love for theater began at a young age. I was very involved in theater at Plumstead Christian School and then later at Huntington University where I graduated with a B.S. in Ed. Ministries and an emphasis in theater. I have been blessed with opportunities to use theater as a ministry by both writing and directing short dramas for my home church in Telford, Pa. I have also had the privilege of serving as a judge for dramatic competitions. |
| RENEE HAGAN - I have been interested in being creative from my earliest memories. My love for art continued throughout my school years including a B.F.A. in college where I most enjoyed photography, painting and mixed media. In my Masters work, I focused on Art Therapy – a therapeutic process. For the past 15 years, I have pursued an interest in quilting, from designing and completing my own to teaching my children to quilt. |
| TAMMY JARRATT - I graduated from Kutztown University with a BFA degree in Communications Design. After graduating, I worked many years as a graphic artist, and have continued to freelance from my home after having children. Most recently, I have designed brochures and corporate identity for the corporate office of The Master's Academy, New Life Church, Air Reusable Energy, and the Christian Counseling Center. |
| DIANA MCKEE - I graduated from School of Visual Arts with my BFA. I have illustrated for many book companies, magazines, Hallmark greeting cards, Lenox plates, portraits, landscapes, florals, murals, 3-D Boyertown bear "Freddie", stage back drops (all in oils) also I have created collages ( that were in shows at The Greater Norristown Art League). Although, some of my paintings have made gallery shows in NYC, my true passion is teaching. |
